Windhoek: President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah closed the final Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, reminding Cabinet members to use every hour wisely, ensure that every action has purpose, and make decisions that honour the people they serve.
According to Namibia Press Agency, while addressing Cabinet ministers and deputy ministers at State House, Nandi-Ndaitwah stated that the eighth Administration has advanced the Swapo Party Manifesto for 2025 to 2030, during which significant progress in the seven priority areas has been supported by eight enablers fully aligned with NDP6.
"Through your leadership, we worked towards economic growth and contributed to creating more jobs, improving food security, and investing in education, skills, health, and innovation. We have strengthened governance and public finance, empowered young people, expanded digital and industrial infrastructure, and extended social protection aimed at ensuring that every community shares in Namibia's prosperity," she said.
Although most Cabinet ministers are serving in their portfolios for the first time, the President noted that they have embraced discipline and shown a willingness to learn. "You have demonstrated the spirit of teamwork, the courage to seek counsel when uncertain, and the understanding that governing in silos weakens our collective impact. This wisdom reminds us that leadership is a learning curve that begins with openness, curiosity, and shared responsibility," she remarked.
The president urged her administration to reflect on the targets they have set and the commitments they have made, adding that they should take time to connect with Namibians from all backgrounds and understand their daily experiences. "Their insights will guide our efforts as we plan for a faster and more focused acceleration of implementation next year," she added.
She noted that the recently concluded Cabinet Retreat, themed 'Enhancing Policy Coordination, Governance, and Service Delivery for Accelerated National Development,' reaffirmed the country's commitment to creating a state machinery that operates with coherence and urgency.
Nandi-Ndaitwah further emphasised that one of the main discussions centred on the relationship between political heads and executive directors, a partnership essential for effective public service delivery and guided by the separation of roles outlined in Articles 40 and 41 of the Constitution. "Respecting these constitutional boundaries strengthens accountability and ensures that each officeholder operates within a defined framework while complementing one another in advancing national priorities," she added.
