Windhoek: The Namibia Oil and Gas Conference (NOGC) has reaffirmed its commitment to preparing young Namibians for opportunities in the country's emerging oil and gas industry by renewing its partnership with the Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF) ahead of the fourth edition of the conference.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the conference is set to take place in Windhoek from 18 to 20 August 2026 under the theme, 'From Decision to Dividend: Making Namibia's Oil Work for Namibians.' A media statement issued on Monday highlighted that the renewed partnership will continue the Future Generations Session and Local Content Masterclasses. These initiatives focus on education, technical training, mentorship, and increased youth participation in conversations shaping the country's energy future while equipping students and graduates with the knowledge, skills, and industry exposure needed to participate meaningfully in Namibia's emerging oil and gas sector.
Economic Association of Namibia Chief Executive Officer, Cons Karamata, emphasized the importance of developing local talent as Namibia advances its oil and gas industry. "The Future Generations Session and the Local Content Masterclasses are designed to bridge the gap between education and industry by connecting young Namibians with the knowledge, training, and mentorship needed to succeed in the energy sector," he said. Karamata added that these initiatives are intended to support the development of future professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders while ensuring the benefits of the sector extend to future generations.
Namibia Youth Energy Forum Director Andreas Paulus stated that the continued partnership will strengthen opportunities for young Namibians to engage with developments in the country's energy sector. "The continued partnership with the Namibia Oil and Gas Conference enables the Namibia Youth Energy Forum to create and expand opportunities for young Namibians to engage with the conversations, developments, and opportunities shaping the country's energy landscape," Paulus said.
The organisers further added that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen local capacity and ensure Namibians benefit from opportunities created by the country's emerging oil and gas sector.
