Otjinene: The National Unity Democratic Organisation (Nudo) candidate for the Otjinene Constituency in the regional council elections slated for November 2025, Ebenezer Kauapirura, is eyeing massive growth in the constituency. Kauapirura stands as the Nudo candidate after his recent victory in the party's preliminaries.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the 48-year-old Otjinene teacher, Kauapirura, plans to focus on infrastructure investment, agricultural productivity, skills development, and industrial development if elected as the Otjinene Constituency councillor. He emphasized that the constituency's development agenda outlines strategic priorities and plans for sustainable growth and improved living conditions within their mandated jurisdiction.
Kauapirura stated that the developmental priorities align with the sixth National Development Plan (NDP6) and aim to foster citizen participation, ensuring that development is tailored to the specific needs and opportunities of the region. As an Otjihitua resident, he promised to transform Otjiuaneho village into a settlement featuring a clinic and sub-police station.
He also committed to constructing a primary and pre-primary school at Omungondo, Ozombeto, or Ehungiro villages to alleviate school overcrowding in Otjinene. Furthermore, Kauapirura expressed his desire to establish a vocational training centre and public library in the constituency to serve the youth and school leavers.
Kauapirura highlighted his intention to prioritize community crop production across all villages in the constituency and improve health facilities. Additionally, he promised free compulsory animal vaccination drugs to enhance animal health, add value to livestock products, and improve abattoir and slaughtering infrastructure and facilities.
Historically, Otjinene has been under the control of the opposition Popular Democratic Movement and Nudo since independence.
