Founding President, Sam Nujoma has sent a message of condolences to the family of the late veteran Accotty Julius Ouseb, who served in the national liberation struggle.

Ouseb died on 29 March 2022 in Windhoek at the age of 76.

The letter of condolences issued by the Sam Nujoma Foundation on Saturday, said the late Ouseb was a freedom fighter whose illustrious life story and patriotic contribution to Namibia’s liberation struggle shall never be forgotten.

Nujoma said Ouseb’s political career started in 1973 when he mobilised Namibians to join the national liberation struggle under the Swapo banner alongside veterans such as Marco Hausiku, Jerry Ekandjo and Martin Kapewasha, amongst others.

“In spite of the great risks of his life, Comrade Accotty was never deterred in his quest for freedom and social justice. As such his bravery, resilience and commitment to the liberation struggle has made our country a better place,” Nujoma noted.

President Hage Geingob accorded Ouseb an official funeral.
