Okahandja: President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has announced the indefinite suspension of the Okahandja Tourism and Trade Expo, which was scheduled to begin on Tuesday. The decision was taken out of respect for the three children brutally murdered in the town.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the president was speaking at the Nau-Aib sports field in Okahandja on Sunday, where she joined the Okahandja community to mourn the deaths of Ingrid Maasdorp, Rosalind Fabian, and Beyonce !Kharuxas. Nandi-Ndaitwah stated that while the trade expo is important for the development of the town of Okahandja, community members are still in mourning.
On her part, Okahandja Mayor Beatrice Kotungondo also explained to the public that the suspension of the trade expo, which was set for 29 April to 03 May 2025, was backed by a council resolution passed by the Okahandja Municipality special council meeting held Sunday afternoon. The approximately 700 residents who attended the gathering at the Okahandja sports field welcomed the decision.
