Okahandja: The deaths of three children who were brutally murdered at Okahandja in March and April this year, compelled President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah to join the community at the Nau-Aib stadium on Sunday. Approximately 700 people gathered at the stadium where Nandi-Ndaitwah conveyed her messages of condolences to the bereaved community who are in shock over the deaths of the minor children.
According to Namibia Press Agency, five-year-old Ingrid Maasdorp was murdered in March this year, while Rosalind Fabian, six, and the 15-year-old Beyonce !Kharuxas were allegedly murdered on Thursday and Friday last week. The president also visited the parents of the slain Maasdorp, Fabian and !Kharuxas to console them, saying their loss was felt by the nation.
'We are here to mourn with you, and we want you to play your role as a community by assisting law enforcement in arresting the perpetrators,' she said.
According to the Namibian Police Force's head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, !Kharuxas was raped and her body mutilated and dumped in the bushes of Five Rand informal settlement, where it was found Saturday afternoon. Mbeha said Fabian's body was found on Friday afternoon, also dumped at the Veddersdal graveyard about 200 metres from the school she attended - KW von Marees Combined School. Maasdorp's body was found last month dumped under the Veddersdal bridge situated along the new A1 Road.
So far, no suspect has been arrested in connection with their deaths and police investigations continue.
