Ongwediva: The Ongwediva Town Council has undertaken road maintenance following significant damage caused by heavy rainfall recorded a month ago.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the town's spokesperson, Ottilie Shingenge, stated on Monday that maintenance work began on Saturday, with the council's technical team present on-site to officially witness and inspect the commencement of the project.

'With the persistent rain across the country, many roads are heavily affected, making it harder for residents, motorists, and service providers to access the affected areas,' she said.

She further stated that the council has approved and renewed a contract to conduct light road blading at Sky Phase 1 and 2, as well as Extension 14, where roads have been severely damaged by the heavy rain experienced in recent weeks.

Shingenge explained that road blading primarily involves smoothing and reshaping the surface of damaged roads. She assured that the council would ensure the work is completed promptly to provide residents with access to a proper road network.
