Otjinene: Otjinene FC is finding the going tough in the Namport Omaheke second division league with the five points they have collected over the seven matches played leaving them 10th in the 11-team league.According to Namibia Press Agency, club chairperson Mervin Kaupasaneua Tuaire revealed that the battle in the league is tough and it is due to various factors. "We are playing our home games away in Gobabis and that has put a burden on the team's finance since it doesn't have sponsorships," Tuaire stated. Otjinene's homeground field was earmarked for upgrading as part of the government priorities to build sport infrastructure in all regions. The chairperson further added that players are affected by the travelling and some are not honouring their presence at the games. When asked whether the team is receiving grants from the Omaheke Football League authority, Tuaire mentioned that the club has only been paid N.dollars 3 500 since joining the league. "The assistance from the authority is minimal. There we re no grants for the four weekends we travelled," he said, but emphasized that Otjinene will fight to avoid relegation despite the obstacles.Omaheke Football League chairperson, Theobald Kahuure confirmed that Otjinene was paid N.dollars 3 500, which was given to all other teams. "This is the part of funds we get from NFA to run the league and pay venues for matches among others. We only pay portions to teams when there is something remaining in our coffers," explained Kahuure, acknowledging the travelling issue due to the lack of a venue in Otjinene. He also added that NFA does not provide grants every month, only every three to four months.Otjinene FC will face Leonardville outfit Golden Boys on Saturday and another Leonardville club, Kom Haal Hulle, on Sunday at the Legare Stadium in Gobabis. Meanwhile, Gobabis SC is currently leading the log with 18 points, followed by Omaheke SC in second place with 16 points.
