Tunis:The Roads Authority (RA) has announced that it will reject applications to register vehicles imported from Hong Kong if the accompanying documents cannot be verified. Cases of fraud may be referred to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) for investigation and possible prosecution.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the RA's CEO, Mbahupu Hippy Tjivikua, stated in a media release that there has been a noticeable increase in applications with unverifiable or fraudulent documentation related to vehicle registration and ownership. This situation has prompted the authority to issue a warning.
Tjivikua emphasized that registering vehicles with fraudulent or unverifiable documents would violate the Road Traffic and Transport Regulations of 2001. As a result, any applications that do not pass verification will be rejected, and the relevant cases may be handed over to NamPol.
Despite this, the RA will continue to accept applications for registering Hong Kong-imported vehicles, provided the documents can be positively verified with Hong Kong authorities. Tjivikua advised applicants to ensure that all submitted documents are genuine, accurate, and verifiable before applying.
