Tokyo: South Korean President Lee Jae-myung is set to visit Japan for a summit with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba later this month, according to an announcement from Lee's office on Wednesday. The visit aims to enhance bilateral ties and address regional concerns.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung revealed during a press briefing that President Lee will embark on a two-day visit to Japan starting on August 23. The summit with Prime Minister Ishiba is expected to focus on establishing a foundation for future-oriented cooperation between South Korea and Japan. The leaders will also discuss strengthening trilateral cooperation between South Korea, Japan, and the United States, as well as exchange views on regional peace, stability, and other pressing issues.

Following the Japan summit, President Lee will travel to the United States for a three-day visit to hold discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump, scheduled for August 25.
