Cordoba: A late own goal from Colombian midfielder Juan Portilla secured a 2-1 victory for San Lorenzo over Talleres Cordoba on Friday in their opening match of Argentina's Primera Division Clausura tournament.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Alexis Cuello opened the scoring for San Lorenzo, capitalizing on a pass from Ezequiel Cerutti to chip a shot over Talleres goalkeeper Guido Herrera. Luis Sequeira then brought Talleres level, linking up with Ruben Botta to send a low 25-yard shot into the bottom-left corner of the net.
The decisive moment came when Portilla inadvertently headed Matias Reali's free kick into his own net, handing the win to the Buenos Aires side. San Lorenzo manager Damian Ayude expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, noting their strategic play in the second half and the timely goal. Ayude, who assumed managerial duties in June following Miguel Angel Russo's departure, remarked on the gradual implementation of his strategies by the players.
In the only other match on Friday, Aldosivi and Central Cordoba played to a goalless draw.
