Katima mulilo: Shooting Stars FC stunned Bush Bucks 2-0 in an encounter at the Katima Mulilo UNAM Sports Field in the Namport Zambezi Regional Second Division League on Sunday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the win in the Namport Zambezi Regional Second Division League has significantly narrowed the gap at the top of the table. Shooting Stars now sit in second place with 31 points and a tally of 30 goals after 16 matches. Despite the setback, Bush Bucks maintain a one-point lead at the summit, holding 32 points and matching their rivals with 30 goals scored.

The victory over the log leaders capped off a dominant weekend for Shooting Stars, who displayed championship form throughout. On Saturday evening at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex, they dismantled the previously third-placed Oryza Sativa with another convincing 2-0 win. These consecutive triumphs against the league's heavyweights have firmly established Shooting Stars as the team to beat as the season progresses toward its 15 June conclusion.

The landscape of the top four shifted further following Oryza Sativa's difficult weekend. After their loss to the Stars, they slipped to fourth place, overtaken by Space Age. Space Age secured their ascent with a 3-1 victory on Sunday morning at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex. While both teams are tied on 26 points, Space Age holds the advantage in third place due to a superior goal difference, having netted 29 goals compared to Oryza Sativa's 26.

In other weekend encounters, Green Eagles drew one-all against Blue Chiefs on Saturday while Rocanno King Rangers thrashed Black Buffaloes 4-1.

Zambezi Sporting Academy and Bright Stars also shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. On Sunday, Green Eagles drew 2-2 with Black Buffaloes, and Rocanno King Rangers recorded an identical 2-2 scoreline against Blue Chiefs. Zambezi Sporting Academy cruised to a 4-0 win over Namib Chiefs.

At the bottom of the table, Real Cheetahs emerged as the weekend's surprise package, securing back-to-back wins by defeating Namib Chiefs 2-0 and edging past Bright Stars 2-1. Despite this impressive six-point haul, Real Cheetahs remain in 12th place with 16 points and 17 goals from their 16 matches. They continue to trail 11th-placed Namib Chiefs and 10th-placed Green Eagles.
