African Stars and University of Namibia (UNAM) continued their fine form in the Debmarine Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) matches on Saturday and Sunday as Julinho Sporting and Young African stuttered.

On Saturday at Legare Stadium, Stars completed their first-round matches with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Young African, courtesy of a goal by former Brave Warriors captain Ronald Katjijere.

The victory means Stars finish the first half of the season with 41 points from 15 games, having drawn only two matches and losing none.

They have scored 35 goals and conceded just seven.

At the SKW Sports Stadium on the same day, Civics and Okahandja United played out an uninspiring one-all draw in the replayed fixture which was postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions last month.

At UNAM Sports Stadium, the first match saw Tura Magic post an impressive 4-2 victory over inconsistent Julinho Sporting.

On-form Magic striker Nehemiah Ndengu netted a hat-trick with Simon Elago adding the fourth.

Sporting got their consolation goals through Harrison Kabemba and Johannes Braziliu.

The final match of the season saw home team UNAM produce a great performance, with a two-nil victory over third-placed Life Fighters.

Veteran defender Willem Mwedihanga and striker Godwin Eiseb were on target for the students.

UNAM followed up their good performance by winning 3-1 against Sporting at the same venue.

Eiseb continued with his rich form as he netted together with Paulus Amutenya and captain Ngero Katau for UNAM, with Braziliu converting a last-minute penalty for Sporting.

The last game of the first half of the season between Magic and Fighters ended with a nil-all draw.

The teams are expected to go into a short break before resuming action in the middle of March.
