Windhoek: Heloise Steyn has been appointed as the acting principal of Windhoek High School (WHS). Her appointment follows the retirement of former principal Dinette de Beer last year.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the former WHS mathematics Head of Department expressed that it is a great honor to step into the role of acting principal. Steyn, 55, emphasized that WHS has a legacy of 107 years of excellence in academics, sports, and culture. She is committed to upholding and building upon that tradition.
Steyn stated her confidence in leading WHS to future success and innovation with the support of dedicated staff, talented learners, and supportive parents. The school board has appointed De Beer to oversee and assist WHS with academic development due to her expertise in education.
The school also announced that Hawie Engels, the current head of the wellness and leadership program, will soon join the National Cricket Academy. However, he will continue to contribute to WHS on a part-time basis.
