Otjiwarongo: The Otjozondjupa police on Monday apprehended the suspect in the multiple stabbing incident which occurred Sunday night at a bar in Otjiwarongo's Tsaraxa Aibes informal settlement.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Namibian Police Force (NamPol)'s Otjozondjupa Region Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Edna Nawa on Tuesday informed that the suspect, who had been on the run after the alleged stabbing, was arrested in Otjiwarongo while in hiding.
"The suspect faces a charge of attempted murder and is expected to make his first court appearance at Otjiwarongo on Wednesday," said Nawa.
The police officer further detailed that the 39-year-old victim sustained visible deep open wounds on the chest, left arm, left leg, and right arm during Sunday's alleged attack.
She added that by Tuesday morning, the victim was showing signs of recovery but remains in a critical condition at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital where he is receiving medical treatment.
The alleged incident occurred at about 20h10, and the victim was discovered lying in the street near the bar by some residents of the informal area, noted Nawa.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
