New York:UN officials instructed outdoor broadcasters at the General Assembly high-level week to dismantle tents and canopies on Friday due to an impending Nor'easter.

According to Namibia Press Agency , the UN Media Accreditation and Liaison Unit (MALU) informed radio and television crews via email that a wind advisory from the National Weather Service required the closure of the outdoor Media Centre and 47th Street entrance for safety reasons. Broadcasters were asked to remove their outdoor setups by the end of Friday.

The National Weather Service warned that the Nor'easter would bring heavy rain and wind gusts exceeding 80 kph, significantly impacting the New York area over the weekend.

Typically, the United Nations erects large tents on the North Lawn for security screening and media accommodation during the annual high-level week. Smaller tents and canopies are also set up by broadcasters in nearby areas such as the Rose Garden and along the East River.

MALU offered broadcasters the option to relocate to the main cafeteria space on the first floor of the Secretariat Building on Saturday, although services such as catering and audiovisual support available in the Media Centre tent would not be provided.
