Teen dies after night club stabbing in Grootfontein

A 17-year-old boy died on the way to the hospital on Sunday morning after he was allegedly stabbed twice at a night club in Grootfontein.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha told Nampa in an interview on Monday the deceased has been identified as Nalish Naufila, who lived in the Umulunga township at the town.

Naufila was allegedly stabbed in the stomach and genitals with a knife, said Mbeha.

He was taken to the Grootfontein State Hospital shortly after the incident and later transferred to a hospital in Windhoek.

“While on his way to Windhoek in an ambulance, Naufila died,” said Mbeha.

A 33-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with murder on Sunday.

He is expected to appear in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court during the week.
