Omusati: A 10-year-old boy has allegedly killed his two-year-old cousin by stuffing sand into her mouth at Akaonde village in the Onesi Constituency. The incident occurred around 20h00 on Saturday, as confirmed by the Namibian Police Force's Regional Commander for Omusati, Commissioner Ismael Basson.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the two-year-old girl was left home alone along with her cousins aged two, seven, and ten by their guardians, who had gone to the local cucashops. Upon their return, only two of the children were at home. When queried about the missing children, the seven-year-old reportedly disclosed that the suspect had put sand into the toddler's mouth.

Commissioner Basson stated that after realizing the girl was not breathing, the suspect allegedly placed her body in a drum, pulled it into the bush, and left it there. The boy, who reportedly lives with a disability, has been charged with murder, read with the provision of domestic violence, and defeating and obstructing the course of justice. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
