Bangkok: Thailand's Election Commission on Monday announced it has approved a plan to hold the country's general election for members of the House of Representatives on February 8, 2026. The announcement comes in the wake of a royal decree that dissolved the lower house of parliament, which took effect last Friday, obligating the commission to organize the general election.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the registration period for constituency and party-list candidates will conclude by December. Along with this, political parties are required to notify their prime ministerial nominees within the same timeframe, as specified by the commission in a statement.

The election will be conducted under a two-ballot system, allowing eligible voters to elect 500 members of the House of Representatives. These elected representatives will serve a term of four years, shaping the legislative framework of the country during this period.
