Beijing: An article authored by Xi Jinping, the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, focusing on the strategic importance of expanding domestic demand, is set to be published on Tuesday. This piece will appear in the 24th issue of this year's Qiushi Journal, the prominent magazine of the CPC Central Committee. Xi, who also serves as the Chinese president and the chairman of the Central Military Commission, draws from significant remarks made over a decade, from October 2015 to October 2025.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the article emphasizes that expanding domestic demand is not merely a temporary solution but a crucial strategy essential for ensuring economic stability and security. The implementation of such a strategy is seen as necessary for sustaining long-term healthy development in China's economy and addressing the population's increasing demands for an improved quality of life.

The article advocates for efforts to enhance domestic demand, particularly consumption, to make it a primary driver of economic growth and a stabilizing force for the economy. It suggests that one of the strengths of a large economy is its capacity for internal circulation and asserts that expanding domestic demand and opening up the economy are not mutually exclusive goals.

The article also stresses the importance of integrating the domestic demand expansion strategy with supply-side structural reform efforts. It calls for coordinated actions to boost both supply and demand, aiming for an optimal dynamic balance where demand stimulates supply, and supply, in turn, fuels demand.

Highlighting China's current economic challenge of insufficient aggregate demand, the article urges swift measures to establish a comprehensive framework. This framework should focus on increasing consumer demand through income support, encouraging investment demand with reasonable returns, and expanding financial demand while managing capital and debt constraints.
