Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the importance of raising the intellectual and moral standards of minors, noting that this should be prioritized as a strategic and fundamental task. He has called for collective efforts to foster a conducive social environment for the healthy development of minors.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted these points in a recent directive. In his directive, Xi stressed the significance of establishing a collaborative educational mechanism that involves schools, families, and society. This mechanism is intended to guide minors in setting lofty ideals, practicing core socialist values, and developing good moral qualities and behavioral habits.

Efforts are also encouraged to cultivate a new generation of competent youth endowed with strong moral foundations, intellectual capabilities, physical vigor, aesthetic sensibility, and practical skills. Such a generation is expected to contribute to the advancement of socialism and uphold the socialist cause, as per Xi's directive.

Xi's directive was communicated during a symposium focused on enhancing the intellectual and moral standards of minors, which took place in Beijing on Monday. Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat, participated in the meeting and delivered a speech.

Cai underscored the necessity of reinforcing family education, consistently providing children with high-quality cultural products and services, and enhancing minors' internet literacy. He also called for expedited progress in establishing a mental health service system for minors, along with stronger protection measures for minors and the prevention of juvenile delinquency. The symposium was chaired by Li Shulei.
