Ohalumbele: A 32-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of a three-year-old girl at Ohalumbele village in the Onesi Constituency, Omusati Region.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Commissioner Ismael Basson, the incident occurred on Friday at around 07h50.

"It is alleged that the suspect entered the house where the child was sleeping, went into the bedroom and took the victim from her sleeping place. The suspect allegedly carried the child to a nearby mahangu field, where she strangled her to death," Basson stated. It is alleged that the suspect is the stepmother of the victim residing in the same village.

The Namibian Police allege that the suspect dumped the child's body in bushes in the field belonging to the deceased's father. In another incident in the Omusati Region, it is alleged that a 13-year-old boy was grabbed and raped by two unknown men on Wednesday at Oshuuli bridge. Investigations into both matters continue.
