Hanoi: Torrential rains have led to severe flash floods and landslides in northern Vietnam's Dien Bien province, resulting in two confirmed deaths and two individuals reported missing.

According to Namibia Press Agency, these devastating weather conditions were reported on Friday, following continuous heavy rainfall from Thursday night into early Friday morning.

The relentless rain in Tia Dinh Commune of Dien Bien province caused significant destruction, with several houses collapsing. Tragically, two individuals were buried under the debris and have been confirmed dead. Authorities are also concerned about the safety of two others who remain unaccounted for.

In addition to the loss of life, at least 25 homes have sustained damage due to the severe weather, as reported by local newspaper Tuoi Tre. The destruction has prompted urgent search and rescue operations across the region. However, these efforts are being hampered by landslides that have obstructed access to certain areas, further complicating emergency response efforts.
