Katima Mulilo:The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Zambezi Region is investigating a tragic accident on the B8 main road that resulted in the deaths of three individuals on Sunday.

According to Namibia Press Agency , the incident occurred near the Zambezi Vocational Training Centre when a Toyota sedan, traveling from the Wenela Border Post toward Katima Mulilo, attempted to overtake another vehicle. The car struck two pedestrians before colliding head-on with an oncoming truck.

Deputy Commissioner Magdalena Garises, NamPol's Head of Administration and Acting Regional Commander, confirmed that all three occupants of the Toyota Wish died immediately from the collision. The two pedestrians, who suffered serious injuries, are being treated at the Katima Mulilo District Hospital.

The victims of the crash were identified as Chansi Sapelapela Jonas, 22, Manda Luxson Ngabu, 27, and Pumulo Simataa, 21, all Namibian nationals. The injured pedestrians, both Namibian females aged 21 and 26, sustained broken arms and legs and are awaiting further medical assessments.

The truck involved caught fire and was destroyed, but its driver, a 39-year-old Zambian national, was unharmed in the incident. The police have informed the next of kin of the deceased, and investigations into the accident continue.
