Washington: US President Donald Trump's administration has informed Congress of its plans to authorize direct commercial sales of military products to Ukraine, totaling $50 million or more. This marks a significant move as Trump's first major decision regarding arms sales since taking office in January.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the sales will encompass both goods and services pertinent to defense. The Kyiv Post, citing unnamed diplomatic sources, initially reported this development, highlighting the administration's notification to Congress.

Russia has consistently expressed concerns over Western arms supplies to Ukraine, asserting that such actions complicate the resolution of the military conflict and implicate NATO countries in the crisis. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has emphasized that any shipments of weapons to Ukraine will be considered legitimate targets by the Russian military.
