Tsumeb: The Tsumeb Municipality will host its inaugural street market later this month to create a vibrant platform where local buyers and sellers can connect, trade, and support one another. The two-day event scheduled for 26-27 June 2026 at the Benjamin Kheimseb Community Hall is aimed at stimulating local economic activity, generating income opportunities for entrepreneurs, and fostering innovation within the community.According to Namibia Press Agency, the municipality's spokesperson, Stella Imalwa, stated that the event will promote small businesses, showcase local talent and products, and enhance community participation in economic development. 'This street market is more than just trading - it's about building a thriving local economy where everyone benefits. We're excited to see entrepreneurs showcase their creativity and connect directly with the community,' she said.Imalwa noted that visitors can expect a diverse range of exhibitors, including entrepreneurs, artisans, farmers, home-based busines ses, food vendors, crafters, clothing sellers, beauty and wellness providers, technology innovators, and many others. The event will feature handmade crafts, fresh produce, fashion items, household goods, unique inventions, and a variety of services that cater to different community needs and interests. The street market will take place quarterly with venues potentially rotating based on community needs. 'This frequency gives exhibitors sufficient time to prepare new products, expand their offerings, and maximise sales opportunities. It also helps maintain excitement and anticipation among community members and visitors. The council believes that quarterly timing strikes the perfect balance between providing regular trading opportunities and ensuring each event remains fresh, attractive, and well-supported,' Imalwa explained. She called on all community members to attend and support local businesses, discover innovative products, and contribute to the growth of the local economy.
