Two Angolan nationals are expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court this week after they were allegedly found in possession of a dried pangolin skin on Friday.

The Namibian Police Force’s (NamPol) Community Affairs Officer in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Olivia Haihambo, on Monday said the two men aged 30 and 33 are both farmworkers at the Queen Sofia government resettlement farm situated northwest of Otjiwarongo.

“It is alleged that the two intended to sell the skin to a buyer in the Orwetoveni location for N.dollars 50 000,” said Haihambo.

The pangolin skin was confiscated and they were arrested Friday evening for possession of a controlled wildlife product.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
