Hardap: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Hardap Region has deployed 200 officers across the region to support security operations for the 26 November elections, acting regional police commander Deputy Commissioner John Mwatongwe said on Monday. Mwatongwe emphasized the police's role in ensuring a smooth and orderly voting process across the eight constituencies and 100 polling stations in the region.

According to Namibia Press Agency, each polling station will be staffed with two police officers, making up the total of 200 officers deployed for this election. Deputy Commissioner Mwatongwe clarified that the police are solely responsible for maintaining security and law and order during the election, without engaging in the counting of votes or other electoral processes.

Senior officers have been assigned to each constituency to oversee and ensure smooth operations. Mwatongwe highlighted the importance of a safe voting environment, stating, "to make sure that things run smoothly, so that we ensure that everyone who is eligible to vote casts their vote without fear or without any intimidation."

Encouraging voter participation, Mwatongwe assured registered voters of their safety and urged them to cast their votes, saying, "I want to encourage everyone who is registered and is eligible to vote to come and cast their votes because there will be no intimidation. We make sure that safety is granted."

In addition to the election day, the police will also provide security during the special voting day on 24 November, ahead of the main election on the following Wednesday.
