Windhoek: Racehorses Whisper and Katiti Komambo delivered standout performances to claim top honours at the Karibib Horseracing Bonanza, held at the Karibib racetrack on Saturday.According to Namibia Press Agency, the event, with a prize pool of N$250,000, marked a significant occasion as it was hosted for the first time in Karibib, Erongo. The competition attracted the nation's elite horses competing across 18 plates. Whisper, owned by Angermund Racing, emerged victorious in the main race for Import horses, covering a distance of 2,000 meters. Torix Night of Naris Turf secured second place, while Burger Racing's Pee Jay took third, closely followed by Otjinene's Equerry in fourth.In the Nambred category, Katiti Komambo from Okahandja Racing maintained its supremacy by finishing ahead of Tsumis Club's Soldier Boy, with Bin Laden from Professor Supporters Club taking the third spot. Whisper's triumph in the thoroughbred's main plate came with a certificate and a prize of N$11,250, whereas Katiti Komambo re ceived N$10,000 as the Nambred champion horse.Among other notable races, Desert Storm claimed first place in the inaugural race, fending off challenges from Kingsley and One Night Stand, who finished second and third, respectively. In the Import D Division, King Celtillus, owned by Eamon Freygang, emerged victorious, with Aminuis Racing's Blonde Act and Winnie Cristian's Vulcanite completing the top three.Race two saw Torix Night capturing the win, followed by Union Rose, Whisper, and Pee Jay, who finished fourth in the short distance category for thoroughbred horses. Miss Lollipop emerged as a top contender in her division, narrowly defeating King Celtillus, while Golden Fire secured third place.In the Nambred graduation category, Tallismanus Racing's White Nossob clinched victory in the 1,000-meter race, followed by Try Me and Otjinene's Magreth, who took second and third places, respectively. Naris Turf's Desert Storm dominated the 1,200-meter race for Nambred maiden horses, with Kingsley and Inyembe zi finishing in the subsequent positions.
