A 50-year-old woman died after she was struck by lightning in a mahangu field at Ndama informal settlement in Rundu on Thursday.
Namibian Police Force Regional Commander for Kavango East, Commissioner Johanna Ngondo told Nampa on Friday that the deceased was part of a group of six people who were working in the mahangu field when the incident happened.
The town received heavy rain with thunder and lightning on Thursday.
Ngondo said the body is kept at the Rundu State Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
The woman’s next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
