Zambezi Police Report Suicide and Three Robberies in One Day

Zambezi: A 36-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at Makalelo village in the Zambezi Region's Kongola Constituency on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Thibuku Kapako, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) said on Tuesday. He allegedly hanged himself in his hut.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Kapako arrived at home around 19h00 on Monday. On Tuesday at 07h10, a woman who came to check on him discovered his body and reported the matter. The next of kin of the deceased have been informed. His body was transported to the Katima Mulilo mortuary for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, the Zambezi police also registered three separate robbery cases on Monday, with the first one reported around midnight at Macaravani West in Katima Mulilo. In this incident, a 44-year-old man was allegedly robbed of his voter's card, ATM card, and N.dollars 1 200. The complainant was allegedly kicked to the ground and stabbed with a sharp object before being robbed. No suspect has been arrested and no recoveries were made.

In the other incident, a Zambian national was allegedly attacked at around 10h00 on Monday. His attackers robbed him of N.dollars 600 and a black Hisense cellphone valued at N.dollars 1 600. No recoveries or arrests have been made thus far.

Further, a 29-year-old woman was allegedly robbed around 17h00 on Monday at New Look in Katima Mulilo. It is alleged that the suspect threatened the complainant and forcefully took her cellphone, ATM card, relish, and N.dollars 130 in cash, incurring total damages to the value of N.dollars 7 330, the police said. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police investigations continue.
