Otjiwarongo: The Otjozondjupa Regional Electoral Officer, Victoria Amutenya, has called on politicians in the region aspiring to contest the 2025 Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections to start submitting applications to the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN). Amutenya, in a media statement, highlighted the importance of utilizing the ECN's online application platform.

According to Namibia Press Agency, application forms became accessible on Friday morning through the ECN's official website. Namibians will cast their votes on 26 November 2025 using a ballot paper to elect their constituency councillors and local authority councillors for various towns and village councils.

Amutenya stated that all application processes will be conducted online at https://ppcm.ecn.na, a decision reached in agreement with all political parties and associations intending to contest in the upcoming elections. To facilitate this process, ECN returning officers will be available at six constituency offices in Tsumkwe, Grootfontein, Otavi, Otjiwarongo, and Omatako, with the Okahandja officers stationed at the Okahandja Municipality Hall.

The ECN officials will remain at these centres to assist candidates with any queries until the final day, 16 October 2025. Independent candidates must submit their applications by 14 October 2025, while candidates from political parties and associations have until 16 October 2025. All applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee of N.dollars 2,500.

Amutenya emphasized that under Namibian electoral law, independent candidates are eligible to contest only in the Regional Council elections, not in the Local Authority or National Assembly elections, but they can compete in the Presidential elections. The ECN is also running a nationwide voter education campaign, which started on 15 September 2025 and will continue until election day on 26 November 2025.
