At Least 18 Dead in Central Peru Bus Accident

Lima: At least 18 people were killed and 24 others injured in a tragic road accident in the central Peruvian region of Junin. The incident occurred when a double-decker bus from the Expreso Molina Lider Internacional company plunged into an abyss on a central highway near the Talca district in Tarma province.

According to Namibia Press Agency, members of the Tarma Fire Department, the National Police, and health personnel responded quickly to the scene to rescue the injured. Several passengers were trapped between the twisted iron of the bus, requiring extensive efforts from the rescue teams.

The injured were transported to the Felix Mayorca Hospital in Tarma for medical treatment. Meanwhile, police officers cordoned off the accident scene to aid in the rescue operations and ensure the safety of the personnel involved.

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that the vehicle may have been traveling at an excessive speed at the time of the incident.
