Opuwo: The Kunene Annual Regional Career Fair 2026 continued in Opuwo on Friday, with learners from schools in and around the town gathering at the Opuwo Open Market to explore career opportunities and educational pathways.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the career fair, organised by the Kunene Regional Council Directorate of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, is aimed at providing career guidance to learners from Grade 4 to Grade 12 across the region. Delivering the opening remarks at the event, Opuwo Urban Constituency Councillor Ueutjerevi Ngunaihe expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to making the event possible. Ngunaihe said the career fair plays an important role in guiding learners as they prepare for their future careers.
'Initiatives like this are important because they provide learners with the necessary information to equip themselves for their future,' he said. He encouraged learners to actively participate in the activities and make use of the opportunity to interact with different institutions and organisations present at the fair.
During the fair, representatives from higher education institutions, training providers, government offices and private companies interacted with learners through information stands and exhibitions. The exhibitors provided information about various study programmes, admission requirements and career opportunities available in different sectors.
Officials also highlighted the importance of studying at accredited institutions of higher learning and obtaining qualifications that are recognised by the relevant authorities. Learners were advised to carefully choose institutions that offer accredited programmes to ensure their qualifications are recognised and can open doors to employment or further studies.
The career fair in Opuwo forms part of the broader Kunene Annual Regional Career Fair 2026, which officially started in Khorixas on 09 March and has since travelled to several towns including Outjo, Kamanjab and Omuhonga. The outreach programme aims to ensure that learners across the Kunene Region receive equal access to career guidance and information about future opportunities. The career fair is expected to conclude in Sesfontein on Saturday.
