Kuala lumpur: China's Ministry of Commerce on Thursday unveiled the outcomes achieved by Chinese and U.S. delegations during their recent economic and trade talks in Kuala Lumpur. The discussions resulted in significant tariff adjustments and suspensions that both nations have agreed upon.According to Namibia Press Agency, the U.S. has agreed to cancel the 10-percent "fentanyl tariffs" and extend the suspension of 24-percent reciprocal tariffs on Chinese goods, including those from Hong Kong and Macao, for an additional year. In return, China will adjust its countermeasures against these U.S. tariffs and both sides will continue extending certain tariff exclusion measures.Furthermore, the United States will delay the implementation of a new rule, announced on September 29, which expands its "entity-list" export restrictions for a year. This rule targets entities that are at least 50 percent owned by one or more entities on the list. China will also suspend relevant export control measures announced on Oct ober 9 for a year and will work on refining specific plans. In another significant move, the U.S. will halt the implementation of measures under its Section 301 investigation that targets China's maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding industries for one year. China, in response, will suspend its countermeasures against the U.S. for the same period once the U.S. suspension takes effect.
