Shanghai: Chinese stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.21 percent to 3,387.57 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also saw an increase, closing 0.44 percent higher at 10,294.22 points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices stood at about 1.17 trillion yuan (approximately 162.64 billion U.S. dollars), remaining flat from the previous trading day. Shares in sectors such as gold, solid-state batteries, and innovative drugs led the gains, while those related to chemical fibers and AI corpus were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.83 percent to close at 2,065.39 points on Wednesday.
