St. Petersburg: Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang on Friday emphasized the need to champion humanity's shared values and promote a multipolar world that is equal and orderly, alongside fostering universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization. Ding made these remarks during his speech, "Championing Humanity's Common Values and Promoting a Multipolar World," at the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Ding highlighted that a decade ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed the UN General Assembly, underscoring peace, development, equity, justice, democracy, and freedom as universal values and the United Nations' noble goals. These values transcend national, ethnic, social, and ideological differences, forming a value-based concentric circle for building a community with a shared future for humanity, which has gained wide international support.

Ding pointed out that the world is currently experiencing accelerated changes, multiple intertwined risks, and common challenges, urging a re-examination of President Xi's speech to guide the world toward a future of peace, security, prosperity, and progress.

The vice premier proposed a four-point strategy. First, he advocated for a global governance concept based on extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, emphasizing equal rights and opportunities for all nations while safeguarding UN authority. Second, he called for an open and pluralistic world economy, urging the protection of the multilateral trading system and fair sharing of economic globalization benefits, especially for Global South countries.

Third, Ding encouraged exchanges among civilizations, respecting their diversity while opposing any "new Cold War" or ideological confrontations. Lastly, he stressed the importance of safeguarding global peace and development through trust-building, conflict resolution, and dialogue, to ensure lasting stability and common prosperity.

Ding also touched on the strong China-Russia relationship, noting that China is committed to elevating this partnership to new heights and strengthening strategic coordination. He highlighted President Xi's recent visit to Russia and the agreement between the two nations' leaders to consolidate political trust and uphold international fairness.

Despite external pressures, Ding assured that China's economy remains resilient, with plans for proactive macro policies to stabilize key economic areas. He reaffirmed China's commitment to opening up further, inviting global enterprises to invest and engage in China's modernization process.

During the forum, Ding engaged in an interactive session addressing major-country relations and China-Russia educational and technological cooperation. He also held meetings with Russian officials and business leaders to discuss enhancing China-Russia investment and energy cooperation, further strengthening bilateral relations.

Ding concluded his visit with brief interactions with leaders from Indonesia, Bahrain, and South Africa, reinforcing China's commitment to international cooperation and development.
