Competition for Chinese Language Teachers in Central Asia Held in Dushanbe

Dushanbe: The second International Teaching Excellence Competition for Chinese Language Teachers in Central Asia commenced in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe. The event, which began on Friday, was hosted by the Confucius Institute at Tajik National University and included sessions on course design, teaching demonstrations, and on-site Q and A. Participants from Confucius Institutes in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan participated in the competition.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Chinese Ambassador to Tajikistan Guo Zhijun highlighted in his speech the role of Chinese language teachers as disseminators of language and messengers of cultural exchanges. He emphasized that they play a crucial role in fostering mutual understanding and friendship between different people. Ambassador Guo expressed confidence that the competition would contribute to the cultivation of a highly qualified and professional workforce for international Chinese teaching, thus aiding the global development of Chinese-language education.

Rajabzoda Faridun, vice rector of Tajik National University, noted the university's commitment to Chinese language teaching and research. He mentioned that the institution sees this event as an opportunity to explore new models of Chinese education and aims to train more teachers who are proficient in the Chinese language and familiar with Chinese culture.

The first edition of the International Teaching Excellence Competition for Chinese Language Teachers in Central Asia was held in 2024 at the university's Confucius Institute. Currently, there are 13 Confucius Institutes across Central Asia, which serve as key platforms for promoting people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between China and the region.
