“Dhaka China Day” Celebration Highlights Strengthening Cultural Ties Between China and Bangladesh

Dhaka: The second "Dhaka China Day" event was celebrated at North South University, showcasing the development of cultural exchanges between China and Bangladesh. Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen, Bangladeshi Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter, and North South University Vice-Chancellor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury were among the attendees, along with over 20,000 university teachers and students.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the event presented a platform for cultural and academic exchanges through various formats including cultural expos, academic forums, youth forums, art performances, and film screenings. In her speech, Farida Akhter emphasized the significance of Bangladesh-China relations, noting the importance of cooperation with China for economic transformation. She highlighted China's role as a reliable trading partner and expressed hopes for further strengthening of ties, especially with the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Yao Wen remarked on the event's success in showcasing the flourishing cultural exchanges between the countries. He emphasized the importance of building bridges for young students and various sectors in Bangladesh to understand China more comprehensively. Yao expressed hopes for continued deepening of practical cooperation in multiple fields and strengthening exchange of governance experiences to elevate bilateral relations.

The event, hosted on Thursday by the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and North South University, underscored the commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation.
