Rehoboth: Several incidents of driving under the influence of alcohol have been recorded by the Namibian Police.

According to Namibia Press Agency, in one case, a man was arrested for allegedly driving a truck under the influence of intoxicating liquor on Friday at about 04h43 along the C24 road, approximately 40 kilometres on the Rehoboth-Klein Aub road.

The weekend crime report on Sunday stated that the man was driving the truck, with a Keetmanshoop registration number, while his blood alcohol concentration exceeded the prescribed limit. He is expected to appear before the Rehoboth Magistrate's Court on Monday.

In another incident in Rehoboth, a 25-year-old man was arrested after allegedly driving a sedan while under the influence of alcohol at about 14h25 on Church Street in Block A. His breath-exhaled alcohol reading was reportedly 0.49 mg/L. He is also expected to appear in the same court on Monday.

At Kalkrand, a 41-year-old Namibian man was arrested at about 21h28 on Friday after allegedly driving a goods vehicle while intoxicated. The incident occurred on the C21 gravel road in front of the Kalkrand Police Station. His final breath-alcohol result was recorded at 0.76 mg/L. He is expected to appear before the Mariental Magistrate's Court on Monday.

In Stampriet, a 28-year-old Namibian man also faces charges of driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and reckless or negligent driving. The incident occurred at about 17h30 near the T-junction of the C20 road to Soetdoringlaagte. Police allege that the suspect was driving a double cab bakkie when he collided with a shop route indicator. His breath-exhaled alcohol reading was recorded at 1.22 mg/L. No injuries were reported, and the driver was alone in the vehicle. He is expected to appear before the Mariental Magistrate's Court on Monday.
