Ningbo: The Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in the eastern province of Zhejiang has launched its first China-Europe Arctic container express route, marking a significant milestone as the port extends its reach to the Arctic Ocean. The initiative is expected to offer robust support for foreign trade enterprises aiming to explore new international logistics channels.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Sun Xuejun, chairman of Zhejiang Seaport Logistics Group Co., Ltd., described the new service as a container route designed specifically for cross-border e-commerce and high-value goods. The route navigates through the Northeast Arctic passage, reducing the transit time from Zhoushan Port to Britain's Felixstowe Port to a mere 18 days. This duration is considerably shorter compared to the China-Europe freight train, the Suez Canal route, and the Cape of Good Hope route, which take about 25, 40, and 50 days respectively.
The maiden voyage of this new route is anticipated to arrive in Felixstowe on October 10. The shipment comprises a diverse array of goods, including daily necessities, clothing, spare machinery parts, and high-value items such as energy storage cabinets and power batteries. Upon arrival in Felixstowe, these goods will be distributed throughout Europe, as stated by the local customs authorities in Ningbo.
