Ondangwa: The extradition of a 38-year-old Namibian woman from Zambia has been postponed to Thursday: The extradition of Chante Coetzee, who allegedly fled Namibia using South African identity documents, was initially expected on Monday but has been delayed.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the investigating officer, Chief Inspector Hendricks Mukubesa Mulele, confirmed the postponement and cited pending matters requiring coordination between Interpol Namibia and Interpol Zambia as the reason for the delay.

Coetzee allegedly hired a vehicle from Kuomboka Guesthouse and Rentals in Zambezi between 24 June and 02 July 2024 to tour Namibia. It is reported that she crossed into Zambia without the vehicle owner's consent using ungazetted entry points.

The vehicle owner filed a criminal complaint at Katima Mulilo, which led to Coetzee's arrest in Zambia on 18 October 2024. A recent court ruling in Zambia approved her extradition to Namibia, where she faces charges including motor vehicle theft and violations of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.

Chief Inspector Mulele stated, 'We are still very busy but she faces multiple charges, including theft of a motor vehicle and contravention of the Prevention of Organised Crime in Namibia. Her extradition will further aid our own investigations.'
