Windhoek:First National Bank of Namibia (FNB) has joined forces with the Office of the Judiciary to implement electronic payment systems at Magistrates' Courts, introducing 42 Speedpoint devices.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the initiative aims to provide court users with a secure and convenient method for making court-related payments. FNB Namibia's Head of Public Sector Banking, Bolle Hans, expressed the bank's satisfaction in supporting the Judiciary by addressing a practical need through technology.
Hans highlighted FNB's commitment to the rule of law and its institutions, noting the bank's enthusiasm to collaborate with the Office of the Judiciary on this improvement. He emphasized the bank's responsibility to ensure a reliable payment solution and to assist the Judiciary's teams as the system becomes integrated into court operations.
The Speedpoint devices will enable court users to make payments using cards, contactless options, and other digital payment channels supported by FNB. Chief Justice Peter Shivute remarked that the devices would facilitate easier electronic payments for the public, particularly benefiting those who previously had to travel long distances for banking or court payment services.
Shivute highlighted the partnership as a testament to the effectiveness of collaborations between public institutions and private entities in overcoming service-delivery challenges. The introduction of these facilities is part of the Judiciary's broader efforts to enhance service delivery and public accessibility through technology.
