Windhoek: First National Bank (FNB) Namibia has extended crucial support to flood victims in the Oshana, Ohangwena, and Omusati regions by donating household essentials worth N.dollars 150,000. The assistance will be evenly distributed among the three regions, with each receiving items valued at N.dollars 50,000.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the donation was announced by FNB Namibia Northern Area Manager Abongile Mpikwa, who emphasized the collaborative efforts with local governors' offices in ensuring that aid reaches those most in need. Mpikwa remarked that the northern regions have historically been affected by floods, and this year is no exception, with many residents losing homes, belongings, and livelihoods.
The essentials provided include food supplies, sanitary items, and mosquito nets, aiming to offer immediate relief to those impacted by the floods. Mpikwa highlighted the importance of partnerships between government, the private sector, and communities in addressing such challenges collectively.
Oshana Governor Elia Irimari noted the severe impact of natural disasters on communities, disrupting lives and causing long-term challenges. He expressed gratitude for the timely support, which serves as a symbol of solidarity and hope for the affected families.
Irimari also expressed optimism about ongoing collaborations with FNB and other organizations in building resilient communities in the Oshana Region.
