Windhoek: First National Bank (FNB) Namibia has been awarded gold in both the Top Corporate Clinic and Top Clinic Contact categories by the Blood Transfusion Service of Namibia (NamBTS) for its substantial role in supporting the nation's blood donation efforts.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the awards were announced during the World Blood Donor Day 2026 commemorations on 14 June in Windhoek, which bore the theme 'Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives.' FNB Namibia reported in a media statement on Thursday that it was able to collect 600 units of blood through employee donation initiatives over the past year.
The bank reported its emergence as the leading contributor in this category, with the collected blood volume being compared to the annual collection of a town clinic. Marjolize Scholtz, Employee Wellness Practice Lead at FNB Namibia, stated that the award underscores the dedication of FNB employees who consistently engage in life-saving activities through regular blood donations.
Scholtz expressed gratitude, saying, 'We are deeply honoured to receive this recognition from NamBTS. This award belongs to every FNB employee and donor who continue to answer the call to save lives through blood donation.'
Furthermore, the statement emphasized that World Blood Donor Day seeks to raise awareness about the critical importance of voluntary blood donation. It also encourages regular donor participation to sustain national blood programs.
The statement concluded by highlighting Namibia's celebration of the heroes behind every blood donation, with FNB Namibia reiterating its commitment to backing initiatives that promote healthier communities, inspire collective action, and create lasting positive change.
