Beijing: Hundreds of firefighters are battling forest fires in two northern Mongolian provinces, the country's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said Thursday. The fires erupted on Wednesday in Khutag-Undur soum of Bulgan province and in Galt soum of Khuvsgul province due to the negligence of citizens, according to NEMA.
According to Namibia Press Agency, experts have identified careless handling of fire by citizens and deliberate burning of grass and debris as the main causes of these natural fires. The agency highlighted that the dry and windy weather conditions prevailing in most parts of Mongolia during the autumn of 2025 have significantly heightened the risk of sudden forest-steppe fires.
NEMA has urged the public to take preventive measures to avert potential wildfires, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in handling fire-related activities. The ongoing efforts to combat the current fires involve a substantial number of firefighters who are working tirelessly to contain the blazes and prevent further spread.
