General Election Campaign Begins with Seven Presidential Candidates in Central African Republic

Bangui: The campaign for the presidential, legislative, regional, and municipal elections in the Central African Republic officially commenced on Saturday, setting the stage for a significant political event scheduled for December 28. Among the seven candidates vying for the presidency is the incumbent President Faustin-Archange Touadera, who seeks a third term in office. Touadera, who has led the nation since 2016, chose Sibut, the capital of Kemo prefecture, located 186 km north of Bangui, to launch his campaign. He emphasized his commitment to intensifying efforts to restore peace and order if reelected.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Touadera faces competition from key figures including Anicet-Georges Dologuele and Henri-Marie Dondra, both of whom are former prime ministers. These candidates have focused their campaigns on addressing poverty and enhancing living conditions for citizens. The electoral campaign is set to run for two weeks, engaging approximately 2.3 million registered voters who are poised to participate in the upcoming elections.
