A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her brother at Buffalo Flats in Gobabis on Friday night after she fell asleep while they were watching TV together in their parents’ house.

The weekend police crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, said the incident happened at around 23h00 while the victim and suspect were watching TV in the sitting room and the victim fell asleep on the couch, just to wake up while being raped by her brother. The suspect, age not given, is yet to be arrested and police investigations continue.

In a separate incident, a 10-year-old girl was raped on Friday at Omahenge village in Ongha district at around 14h00 by an unknown suspect while she was on her way from school. It is alleged that the suspect approached the minor and told her to follow him in the mahangu field where he raped her. Police investigations continue.

Another rape incident is reported to have happened at Rehoboth’s Block E between 00h00 and 05h00 on Saturday near Vooruitsig Primary School, where two girls aged 16 and 17 years were allegedly threatened with Okapi knives and raped by two male suspects.

“It is alleged that the incident occurred when the victims were escorting each other when they were approached by the suspects, who at first demanded money and since the victims did not have any money, the suspects threatened them to walk from Block B to Block E where the victims were allegedly raped,” the police said.

The police also reported that on Friday at around 15h00, the lifeless body of a boy identified as 11-year-old Royal Dino |Naub was retrieved from the Kamanjab Sewage Pan. It is alleged that the deceased went swimming with other children earlier in the day and drowned.

His next of kin have been informed of his death and police investigations continue.
