Windhoek: Major stock market indices across the world recorded gains on Tuesday, reflecting a positive trend in global financial markets.According to Namibia Press Agency, Asian markets opened on a high note, with the Shanghai Composite Index starting at 4,043.91 points, marking an increase of 28.16 points, or 0.70 percent. The Shenzhen Component Index showed a more significant rise, opening at 13,986.89 points, up by 162.54 points or 1.18 percent. Meanwhile, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index also experienced an upswing, opening at 26,995.76 points, climbing 220.19 points, or 0.82 percent. Australia's S and P/ASX 200 index saw an increase of 95.60 points, or 1.09 percent, opening at 8,874.20 points. Japan's Nikkei Stock Average recorded a notable gain, opening at 53,332.18 points, up 677.00 points, or 1.29 percent. The Straits Times Index in Singapore opened at 4,910.43 points, reflecting an increase of 18.16 points, or 0.37 percent. South Korea's Korea Composite Stock Price Index witnessed a significant rise, o pening at 5,114.81 points, up 165.14 points, or 3.34 percent.In the United States, the markets closed with positive results. The S and P 500 Index closed at 6,976.44 points, showing an increase of 37.41 points, or 0.54 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 49,407.66 points, up 515.19 points, or 1.05 percent, while the Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 23,592.11 points, gaining 130.29 points, or 0.56 percent.European markets followed suit with the DAX Index closing at 24,797.52 points, up 258.71 points, or 1.05 percent.
