Mariental: Swapo regional and local authority councillors gathered in Mariental on Sunday for a consultation aimed at strengthening governance, accountability, and the implementation of the party manifesto. They were urged to work together to improve the living conditions of residents in the Hardap Region during the meeting, which was officially opened by acting Hardap Swapo Regional Coordinator and Hardap Governor, Riaan McNab.According to Namibia Press Agency, McNab emphasized the importance of the meeting, stating, "The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that, as district coordinators, regional executive members, and party deployees, we take charge of the implementation of our manifesto in all eight districts." He reminded delegates that the party's objectives include uniting Namibians and addressing unemployment, poverty, illiteracy, and disease. Leaders were urged to prioritize job creation and youth empowerment to improve livelihoods in communities across the region.Addressing the gathering on beh alf of the Swapo Party leadership, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, and Political Bureau member Edward Wambo highlighted the electorate's significant trust in the party. "It is a serious and urgent mandate, and this mandate requires our collective efforts," Wambo stated. He urged leaders to create opportunities for communities, noting that the party's reduced electoral majority should serve as a warning that greater attention must be paid to the needs of the people.Wambo further stressed the importance of unity within the party, warning that internal divisions could undermine developmental efforts. "There is no room for tribalism, no room for regionalism. It is only by joining hands and pulling in the same direction that we can succeed. Unity is our strength," he said. He also emphasized that Namibia's natural resources should benefit all citizens and urged deployees to promote sustainable development while resolving internal differences through party structures rather than on social media platforms.
